Avon Haul and First Impressions: Campaigns 9 & 10 2014

Note: I submit my Avon order every other campaign.  This means that I receive products from two campaigns at once, but half as often as the regular timetable.

Here's my most recent haul (another small one -- I think I'm getting better at this self-control stuff!)

Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel (Not pictured in the haul photo...oops.)

This is a little tub of 30 thin cotton round-sized pads, well-saturated with a clear, slippery solution.  The product description on the side of the box reads:

"This improved formula of ANEW CLINICAL Advanced Retexturizing Peel features a powerful blend of glycolic acid plus natural botanicals.  You can safely peel away dullness and reduce the look of signs of aging."

I bought this product because, thanks to pregnancy hormones, I have rough, flaky patches of skin on my face that just won't go away.  No matter how much scrubbing I do with a gritty, exfoliating cleanser or how much heavy moisturizer I pile on (even natural home remedies), the patches just stay.  Needless to say, this is not good for makeup application!  The first evening that I tried one of these pads, I smoothed it across my clean face and a little down my neck, then went to bed.  It tingled a bit, but wasn't uncomfortable.  When I woke up the next morning and rinsed my face...HOLY SOFTNESS BATMAN!  My face was so soft and so smooth that I couldn't believe it!  No irritation or redness, either!  This effect lasted for a week -- and even then, my face still wasn't like it used to be.  The recommended use is every other day, but I don't need that (and I don't want to mess up a good thing!)

Advance Techniques Strong Strands Bamboo Comb
On the other end of the scale is this (real!) bamboo comb.  I wanted to use it for wet hair right out of the shower/bath, but this is NOT a wide-toothed comb, and much smaller than I realized.  For some reason I was expecting the teeth to be spaced farther apart -- so right off the bat, I was disappointed.
Then closer inspection revealed just how rough-cut and potentially hair-damaging this tool could be.  It just feels like it would snag and break my hair -- no wonder it was in the Outlet.  I think I could make it work if I sawed off every other tine and sanded the whole thing down.... nah, too much work!

True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Grin & Bear It
A long while back I posted about these new quads coming out for the "naked" eye shadow look.  I debated for a long time which one to get, finally deciding on the very darkest one, recommended for "deep" skin tones (which as you may know, I am definitely not).
The first three shades are shimmery and almost metallic.  There is a warm gold, a coppery brown, and a brownish olive.  Finally, #4 is a neutral brown with a satin finish.  This last shade was a slight disappointment since it is the darkest in the palette, but also the least pigmented.  All the other colors are smooth and richly toned with wonderful payoff.  I could wear each one just by itself and get a great look.  Very pretty!

Lip Lacquer Stain in Rosy
What I like about this stain/gloss: it has a nice, minty scent and flavor; it feels very smooth and "cushiony" on my lips (even moisturizing!) without stickiness; the doe-foot applicator is just like the regular Ultra Glazewear (easy to use); I don't get any kind of 'drying' effect like with other stains.
What I just don't get: I thought that this shade would be just a little darker than my natural lip color, but it goes on so sheer that I can barely tell a difference!  I don't even know if it is actually "staining."  The first time I put it on, I had to wipe it right back off with a tissue to check if there really was any color there.  I'm pale -- but I guess not pale enough for this shade!  The Nude shade must be like nothing at all....well, ok, I guess they did name it "Nude" afterall, haha.  I'm tempted to try the Juicy Cherry shade (a bright pinky red), since these appear to be so sheer.

Bubble Delight Bubble Bath in Coconut Water
I've been enjoying many things coconut lately and this bubble bath is no exception.  The scent is very light and pleasant.  The coconut isn't too sweet and the aqua smell is nice and clean.  If you don't like heavy florals in your bathtub (I don't) then you might just love this (I do).

That's all for now! Have you tried any of these products?  If so, what do you think?  Tell me in the comments below!

All thoughts stated in this post are my own, honest opinions.  I have not been compensated to review these products, and all were purchased by me with my own money.
